Fit Kids Challenge Event- Adventure 212
Elementary school children throughout Portage County are invited to be active at Adventure 212 on Saturday, April 10th, 10am- 12noon. Use interactive, cardiovascular games in the Adventure zone (never ending climbing wall, DDR, game bikes) and group games in the open gym like kickball, trench ball, and more! Spring Thaw 5k Run/Walk
The UWSP Sports Medicine Club is hosting the 3rd annual Spring Thaw 5k Run/Walk to educate and increase awareness of type 2 diabetes and raise money for the Wisconsin Lions Camp, NATAREF, and UWSP Sports Medicine Club. Race starts and ends at the UWSP Outdoor Track and travels through Schmeeckle Reserve. Snacks, awards, and prizes to follow the race. Heart of Wisconsin Kite Festival
The Rotary Club of Greater Portage County holds an annual Kite Festival from 11:00 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Portage County Business Park. The kite festival is a family-oriented event with several activities going on throughout the day. There is a workshop for children to make their own kites. The public is invited to just come and observe or bring their own kite to fly. A variety of kites are available for sale by Unique Flying Objects (UFO) of Two Rivers, WI. (view full details)

Portage County Can will promote and support events that meet at least one of the Centers for Disease Control evidence-based focus areas to increase physical activity and decrease obesity. The focus areas include:
  • Increase fruit & vegetable consumption
  • Decrease sweetened beverage consumption
  • Decrease food portion size (portion control)
  • Increase physical activity
  • Decrease TV and other "screen" time
  • Increase breastfeeding
